What is "6 degrees of separation"?

"6 degrees of separation" is a social networking concept where any two people in the world can be connected through 6 people or less.

How does MYDREW use the 6 degrees concept in creating a new type of marketplace?

At MYDREW there are two types of markets. A general market and a private market (private network). A general market is similar to a shopping mall, where anyone can go to shop. A private market is similar to a shopping club, where members are be connected through friends or friends of friends, as far as 6 degrees away.

What is a private market and how does it work?

A private market is your private trading network. This market consists of all members who have been invited to join your network by you. All members in the network will be connected to you either through a common friend or a friend of a friend. The connection between any member in your network and you can be up to 6 degrees in separation. Buying, selling and trading in your private market is private and is open only to the members in your network. However, you can control who you can sell to, who you can trade with, and who you can buy from, simply by adjusting your preference settings.

What is a general market?

A general market is a public market provided by MYDREW. The public market is similar to a shopping mall where anyone can go to browse and buy items. The general market is viewable by everyone, but in order to buy, sell or trade, you would first need to register with MYDREW.

How do you sell things?

Selling on MYDREW is very simple. First you add items to your sales inventory. Items would need to be approved by our staff. We can usually get your listings approved within the same day that you submit it; this is to ensure a quality marketplace and reduce any duplicate or invalid listings.

How do you trade things?

Trading on MYDREW is very simple. First you add items to your trade inventory. Items listed for trade would also need to be approved. All posted items will have distinct selling and trading flags to distinguish which type of transaction it is. You can then use the items in your inventory to trade.

How do you buy things?

Listings can be bought at the asking price or an offer can be made if the seller listed the item as negotiable.

What are the costs?

MYDREW is free to join and free to use. There are no final transaction fees, no commissions, no buying fees and no trading/bartering fees. There is only a $1.50 selling fee charged to the seller at the end of each sale. Items that do not sell will not be charged.

Is it free to join for members that are invited to my network?

Yes, it is free to join for all invited members. Invited members who accept your invitation can buy, sell and trade immediately.

What is a network block?

Members can place a block on a user's network; preventing users in the blocked network from transacting within your network. For example, let's imagine that one of your friends lists items for trade on your network that you are not interested in. You can easily place a block on her and her entire network; preventing them from transacting with you or any of your network members.

What is a member block?

A member block works the same as a network block except that the block is placed only on the member and not on the member's network.

What is preferences?

Preferences are used to control which members you are able to buy from, which members you can sell to and which members you are able to trade with. For example, if you had a browsing preference set to 5 and a trading preference set to 3 , you would be able to browse and view all items up to 5 degrees within your friends network and trade your items with friends in your friends network, up to 3 degrees. Of course you can always set your preferences to ALL and be able to buy, sell and trade with everyone including your entire friends network.

How do you make a offer?

An offer can be made in two ways. First would be a cash offer for a item and the second would be a trade offer for a item. Trade offers are made with items that are listed in your trade inventory.

What is a rating?

Ratings are a way to provide feedback on transactions. Members can rate each other after every transaction. Ratings can be used for checking the reliability and credibility of buyers, sellers and traders.
